
The Good Pennyworths: Selections from their 2012 concert
Three pieces from the performance by The Good Pennyworths at the 2012 Lute Society of America Summer Seminar & Lute Festival in Cleveland: “Tell me, O Love,” by Alfonso Ferrabosco (d. 1628); “A Perfect Strain,” a new composition by Jordan Clawson (b. 1983) on a poem by Isabella Valancy Crawford (ca. 1880); and “Bid me but live,” by Henry Lawes (1596-1662). The performers are Jacquelyn Penfold (soprano), Kirsten Kane (mezzo-soprano), Christopher Preston Thompson (tenor & Gothic harp) and Garald Farnham (baritone & lute). “A Perfect Strain” was commissioned by the group for this concert.
