Garald Farnham – Passing By: My Life as a Minstrel
Both touching and humorous, Passing By…describes the journeys of a modern day troubadour. Garald Farnham has entertained children and adults on five continents with his Renaissance spirit and songs. Drawing from these experiences, he has created this spontaneous performance of stories and songs.
The Good Pennyworths: Selections from their 2012 concert
Three pieces from the performance by The Good Pennyworths at the 2012 Lute Society of America Summer Seminar & Lute Festival in Cleveland: “Tell me, O Love,” by Alfonso Ferrabosco (d. 1628); “A Perfect Strain,” a new composition by Jordan Clawson (b. 1983) on a poem by Isabella Valancy Crawford (ca. 1880); and “Bid me but live,” by Henry Lawes (1596-1662). The performers are Jacquelyn Penfold (soprano), Kirsten Kane (mezzo-soprano), Christopher Preston Thompson (tenor & Gothic harp) and Garald Farnham (baritone & lute). “A Perfect Strain” was commissioned by the group for this concert. Shakespeare Songs, Set 5, from The Good Pennyworths’ Concert at LSA 2010
The fifth set from the performance “True Love Never Did Run Smooth” by The Good Pennyworths at the 2010 Lute Society of America Summer Seminar and Lute Festival, combining lutesongs, ayres and madrigals with dialog from Shakespeare’s plays. This set is entitled “Down! Thou Climbing Sorrow.” Performers are Erika Lloyd (soprano), Alane Marco (soprano), Christopher Preston Thompson (tenor) and Garald Farnham (baritone and lutes). Coaching on staging and adaptation of the Shakespeare texts was by Katherine Harte-DeCoux. Lutes by Lawrence K. Brown and Michael Schreiner.
